My observation has to do with us directly because we can be just as guilty as anybody else of honoring others above each other because we think that person and the opportunities they represent are worth us sacrificing for the potential of greater success.
It's selfish to sit under someone and act like you're submitted when your goal is placement.
You want to have doors opened up for you by the one you honor.
But it's your character thats lacking therefore you won't stay where you want to be.
We should listen but more than listening we should be valuing the people around us we consider to be little. Little is defined as under us, unable to raise us up to a higher position.
Value is honor. So....who do you honor and why?
For the furtherance of self or because you honestly aren't trying to make career moves but value moves...hmmm
